Retold by: Carol Ann Duffy
Dramatised by: Melly Still and Tim Supple
Director: Melly Still
Grisly and gruesome, hilarious and hair-raisingly funny, Hampstead Theatre's festive treat brings you Brothers Grimm and European fairy tales to make you laugh with delight and shiver with glee.
These tales are retold by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy and dramatised by Tim Supple and Melly Still, who also artfully directs and designs. Still has unearthed the macabre, the magic, the mischief, the menace and the merriment in classic stories such as, BlueBeard, Beauty and the Beast and The Emperor's New Clothes.
Featuring a beast with bad table manners and a goat that showers gold from its behind, Beasts and Beauties is ultimately a show about the roots of theatre itself, the timeless art of telling stories and doing so simply and beautifully as possible.
A truly magical treat for children aged 8 + (and also likely to satisfy the sort of bigger kid who has pension plans and mortgages too).
