This year's SLT Pantomime is Babes in the Wood and it promises to be brighter and more spectacular than ever before. Directed by Lee and produced by Stuart Draper, the show sees a return to the traditional pantomime, with a raft of delicious goodies and delectable baddies to brighten up the Christmas season.
The Sheriff of Norwood has just learned that his wards, the eponymous Babes of the story, are worth more to him dead than alive and sends his hapless henchmen, Toyle and Trouble, into the woods to finish them off. He hasn't counted on the redoubtable Nurse Glenda Glucose and of course Robin Hood and his Merry Men who are in hot pursuit. Woodland fairies, dancing bears, magic, wonder and a plethora of 80s songs join forces to make this the most exquisite of seasonal dishes.
'We want to get back to basics with the show,' explains the show's director, Lee. 'It's going to be even bigger than the last blockbuster pantomime. Every set will make you go 'wow' and the music should have everyone bopping in the aisles.'
'A pantomime is often the first piece of theatre that you see,' says Stuart. 'It has to be magical. It has to be breathtaking. I still remember my first pantomime. If a show still gives you goose bumps 37 years later, you know it was doing something right'
Any hints of what to expect? 'We've got a Ghostbusting routine that will see the theatre filled with UV ghouls, a dance of magical toys, a forest set that will make you think you had stepped into a Disney cartoon and a fairytale ending that will have you whooping, weeping and whistling with delight,' says Lee.
'Imagine the magic of Aladdin and triple it,' says Stuart. 'The SLT Panto is back.'
Please note: There will also be performances on Friday 16th at 19:30 and Saturday 17th at 14:30 and 19:30.
